The Far End Of Happy
This semester one of the books I read was The Far End of Happy by Kathryn Craft. If you are looking for a short story this is definitely not what you are looking for. The Far End of Happy is a lengthy book but, the author manages to keep the story interesting from beginning to end. Kathryn Craft wrote this book based on real events that took place in her life. This book is about a marriage that spirals completely out of control. The wife is living with her kids trying to be as normal as can be but also keeping an eye out for her soon to be ex husband. I know what you are thinking and no it is not one of the typical break up stories that end really weird and I'm telling you this because that is exactly what I thought. As the story goes on you get to see that her ex husband was struggling with many things. An event ends up happening that will involve the police and the ex husband for twelve whole hours. The only other stuff I can say is WOW I did not see the author taking that spin on her story. After I finished this book I remembered that this actually happened in her life and I do not know how herself and her kids were able to go through something that big. I could honestly say I enjoyed this book and considering I am not one who normally enjoys reading I can say I did with this book.

To start off I liked how you explained what the book was mainly about and it seems like an entertaining book. This review is very informal that it caught my attention. I also enjoyed reading your personal opinion, "The Far End Of Happy" might just be the next book I pick up and would invest my time in.
ReplyDeleteI love your honesty while summarizing the books. The story of a broken marriage can be interesting to read. My only question is what was the POV of the book in?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like this book is very thought-provoking, as books based off of personal experiences tend to be. There's something about the vulnerability of a stranger sharing their real-life struggles with the world that makes a book all the more enticing, and it sounds like this book has that element to it. Your description does sound interesting and makes me want to read it. My only struggle with this type of book is that when I read them, I have to constantly remind myself that I shouldn't view this form of reading as entertainment. It's so easy to only think about if the plot interests me and which parts of the book I like or dislike when I read, but I also need to keep in mind the fact that it's the authentic description of someone's personal life. However, the struggle to keep this perspective also makes it worth the read because it's so much more stimulating and engaging than a passive, fictional read. Thank you for sharing this book recommendation!
ReplyDeleteThe way you describe this book makes me feel interested to know what happens in it, so your review I would say is really good. Also, this book seems like it is a roller coaster to read with it being based on real events, and I could potentially invest into it as a reader.
