Reply to this post with your current thoughts on your SSR book after reading today/this week:
What book are you reading? Why did you choose this book? What do you think of the book so far? Can you see any connections between it and what is happening in our world today? Give the class some thoughts and ideas from your brain!
i am currently reading a book called Hold Still by Nina LaCour and to me it seems to be an interesting book so far as the main character struggles to live her daily life after the loss of her friend. I have not gotten too far into the book but i think that im hooked. There isn't that many connections with this novel and our world around us today but perhaps as i read further, i will stumble upon something that i can relate to during this period of isolation.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am currently finishing up is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, by far one of my favorite books that I have read. The plot of the story really catches your attention and reels you into the thrilling moments yet passive as well. One of the main themes of this novel is second chances. I believe this connects to this current situation with the whole world we are facing because this whole virus is a wake up call to us. We had our problems pile up, but it only took one fatal virus to really shake us off our feet. Now we can take this time to actually evaluate our real world problems and see what can possibly be the best solution for us.
ReplyDeleteThe book that I currently wrapped up is Supermarket written by Bobby Hall, which has now made my list for favorite books. As the author writes the book, he has little snippets in which he speaks as himself and not the character. He breaks the fourth wall which I find pretty entertaining. The book focuses a lot on mental health issues since the character is going some underlying issues but you get hooked instantaneously. There isn't any connections to the real world and the ongoing issues but it does talk about other issues that we tend to push aside.
ReplyDeleteThe Book I am currently reading is called The Her Canpus. It’s a book dedicated to what to expect in college as a young female. It gives tips on how to stay safe, what to look forward to and most important how to be successful. Reading this book especially now helps me look forward to something. As all of us are probably experiencing some type of effect when it come to this social distancing order. This book takes my mind off of it and helps me visualize what college could potentially look like.
